Day 17.5 Bunker Restoration Project, What A Great Surprise!

Could not stay awake to watch the end of Friday nigh's Cardinals game but had a feeling they could make it close.  Jumped up at 4:30 Saturday morning before work and saw the final scroll across the screen.  Wow!
Here's more if you have not had enough.

The staff got a good 6 hour day in on Saturday and finished the left bunker on #4 and most of the left bunker on #6 and the fairway approach.  We still have a little more work on the back left of 4 and some sodding on #6.  We did not receive any rain on Thursday night but did receive 8/10" of rain on Saturday night which worked out great for the project.  A good thorough watering of the new sod and soil around the bunkers and we should be dry by Monday to begin again.  The plan this week is to complete #5 and then the right side of #4.  Maybe we will be able to start on #8 before the end of the weekend.  We will be tearing out #3, #12 and probably #17 this week.  Depending upon Kye's work, we might need to tear out #1 and the practice bunker.  We also have #6 right side to tear out as well.

Kye almost finished #13 and has just some minor shaping to do on Monday.  He will then move on to #3
and will be finished with it on Tuesday.  He will then move to #12 which should be completed on Tuesday or early on Wednesday.  He will then move to #17 which will take a day.  Depending upon the weather, #1 and the practice could be finished on Friday/Saturday.  We do also have to finish the right side of #6 which will be early next week.

Left bunker drainage install before sand was put in the bunker on Friday.

On almost every green, we have had to dig irrigation heads up to raise them so that grades can be changed to move water around the bunkers instead of coming into the bunkers.  We also are raising them so that they will be at the level of the new sod.  Around green #7 we had to raise 7 heads, two quick couplers and repair a head.

The left bunker of #4 near completion on Friday afternoon.

Almost completed Saturday morning except for some work on  the top left corner  at the sprinkler heads pictured above.

The view of #6 with the new zoysia fairway approach.  We have to complete some sodding and  a little more clean up around the left bunker.
