Firewood for Sale

Every season, we split firewood that is used to heat our maintenance building and we also make it available for purchase to the membership, their families and friends. Wood can be picked up at the maintenance building with your own vehicle or can be delivered to your home and stacked. Our average expenditure for natural gas to heat our facility was over $ 3,000 before we were using a wood burner. We now pay under $1,000 burning some of the trees that are removed from the property.

We charge $75.00 for a truck load that you pick up(reduced price for SUV sized loads/car trunks) or
$125.00 for the wood including the delivery fee. Any delivery outside the 270 beltway will be increased based on your location. Deliveries are available Monday-Friday between 8-3. You do not have to be at home for the delivery. If you want to come to the shop to pick up wood, we are happy to help you load during the week before 3:00 p.m. Self service is available on the weekend as well but staff are off during the winter season. We split oak that is the dominant tree species on property. It has been split from at least the season before so it is of great quality and provides a great fire.

We bill the charges to your Glen Echo account. If its a family member or friend, we will accept a check for the charges or of course you can put the charge on your account. Please contact

Firewood Weather

Well, the worm has turned on the weather here in early November. Our aeration holes are trying to close up but have been a little slower than normal because of the cool weather. I'm not too worried, still plenty of opportunity for some growth over the next few weeks.

In the meantime, we are selling firewood again this year for anyone interested. Its $ 100 delivered inside the 270 beltway. If you prefer self-service, its $ 75.00 a pick up truck load. If you have a smaller vehicle like an SUV, we will normally just charge you $ 25 to $ 30.

Delivery is available Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. We can deliver without you being home as long as you let us know where we can stack it for you. Self service pick ups can be done 7 days a week. Please contact me by email jwachter@gecc.org if you have any questions. The wood on the right is seasoned and has been sitting there all season. The wood on the left is seasoned but newly split and needs a month or two to improve its burning ability for those you who will do self service this season.

Firewood For Sale

That time of year to burn some wood in outdoor pits or fireplaces. We sell oak firewood for $ 75.00 self service pick up load or $ 100 delivered. Deliveries are usually delayed until after Thanksgiving since the staff is busy chasing leaves and we are at reduced staffing levels. Deliveries are only made on week days. You do not have to be there for us to deliver as long as we have a spot worked out ahead of time to stack.

If you have a small SUV or car and want a small load, we usually adjust the price down accordingly. If you need assistance with loading, our staff can help out. There are there 7 am to 2:30 pm Monday thru Friday. The pickup load price is for about `175 pieces more or less. You can contact my phone at 314-575-7321 or shoot me an email.

The pile we are currently using as you drive down past the maintenance building is on the left side of the driveway. It has been there for 2 years and has been burning nicely in the fire pits up on the patio over the last couple of months. Once that is all gone we will begin to use the right side which is a bit  newer wood but has been on the ground since at least last winter.
