Day 10 Bunker Renovation, #9 Complete

#9 was completed today.  It looks awesome!!!

Some of the sod used on the left side of the complex is a little off color but should come back and be nice and green in the next few weeks.  At this time, we ask all golfers to enter and exit the green from the right side for the next week or two.  We will probably open up the left side for entering and exiting in the next few days.  Please do not cut through the middle area.  The area between the bunkers will be soft because water does flow down hill so please follow the signs that we will post as you walk or drive toward the green from the right.

The staff trenched, edged and removed the soil from the trenches on the two left bunkers on #18 today.  We removed a couple of rows of bentgrass collar and green on the left side of #6 to help with moving water around the new left #6 bunker.  Additional sand was added to the profile and tilled which raised the height enough to slow water allowing Kye's new shaping to move the water around the green.  The staff finished #9 as mentioned above with some sand and sodding work on the left bunker.  Some additional irrigation head leveling and setting of heads along the curbing of #9.

Our staff will be placing drainage in the two left bunkers tomorrow and should begin to add sand to the complexes.  We will order sod first thing in the morning if the weather looks good and rain stays away.  I expect to have #18 completed by Friday.  The staff will have to strip away and remove sand from #7 complex ahead of Kye tomorrow and might possibly have to remove sand from #5 on Friday or Saturday in preparation for the shaping.

Kye was busy today finishing the left side #6 bunker.  He began the left bunker on #4 and should complete it in the morning.  He will then move to #7's complex and will probably be working there for two days.  He is going to go ahead and use the large machine on #5 probably by Friday P.M. and or Saturday.

Thanks to Heather Schadt for the photo.

#6 Kye shaping.  He's working on getting the water that sheets across the green to move around  the bunker.

The bunker after completion looking from the rear of the green to the tee.

We stripped off the edge of the green and collar along the left side of #6 to help move the water around the bunker.

Staff adding soil to the erosion issue on the left bunker of #16.  Mounding was increased at the top edge of the bunker to move the water around the bunker.

The do over is complete.  Sod is slightly yellow but will improve over the next couple of days.

Left bunker drainage of #18 trenched  and cleaned up.  The approach bunker was trenched as well and cleaned up.  We still have to add a couple of more cross trenches on  the left bunker.
