Day 8 and 9, Bunker Restoration and a Ryder Cup wipeout!

Wow, what an ending to a pretty good Ryder Cup for the Red, White and Blue until Sunday's wipe out created by the Euros.

At least we were able to get some work in on Saturday and finally got a full day in today.  #9 is near completion.  A few more pieces of sod around the left side, back filling around sprinkler heads that were raised, a few loads of bunker sand in the left side bunker and vibratory plate compacting of the bunker sand is all that is needed for this monster to be finished.  Our staff did the tear out of the left side of 6 as well as the left side of #4.  On Tuesday, we will repair the left side bunker of #16.  The staff will dig out #7 in preparation for Kye to begin on this large complex.  The staff began trenching the left side bunker of #18 on Monday afternoon and we will continue with #18 complex over the next three-four days.

Kye worked on #18 most of the day on Saturday and finished this morning.   Kye began his work on #6 at noon today filling in the left front bunker and shaping the left side bunker.  He still has a few more hours work on #6.  #4 left side bunker shaping should occur on Tuesday into Wednesday as well.  He will then move to #7 and tackle that large complex for probably two days.

Drainage in the left bunker #9.
This is before the drainage was installed.  Staff hand dug the side trenches because of wet conditions from  last Tuesday/Friday rain.  They are also digging out trenched dirt from last Tuesday and wheel barrowing it between the breach in the two bunkers that was made the week before.

#6 sod/sand removal.  The bunker in the foreground is being removed.

Continued removal around #6

Kye working in #6 left side bunker.

#6 left side bunker near end of day.  The front bunker has been filled in.  We plan to place a small, tee height/.5" approach cut in front of the green down into the low area.  We've not stripped the sod away from the front middle and right side of the approach because we have at least 3-4 days work on #18 before we can get to #6.  I'm trying to keep the course as playable for you as we can during the construction.  Exposed soil near the green also makes it more difficult for our greens mower to operate.

#4 left side dug out and waiting for Kye to arrive probably on Tuesday afternoon.
